A Dominican breaks records in Ecuador

Victor Estrella Burgos from the Dominican Republic has qualified for the final of the debut edition of the tournament on clay in the Ecuadorian capital of Quito, where he will meet Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.

The tennis player from the Caribbean can become the oldest champion in ATP competition with his 34 years. Furthermore Estrella Burgos is the first representative of the Dominican Republic, who reached the final. He knocked out the second placed in Quito Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci with 7: 6 (5), 7: 5.

In the second part the veteran served for winning of the match at 5: 4, when torrential rain came and the match was stopped. The semi-final has continued after 4 hours. Bellucci broke back, but Estrella-Burgos instantly made another break, then won his submission to zero and so to reach the historic final.

In the other match was a break. The lieder in the scheme Feliciano Lopez was serving at 4: 5 in the first part against his compatriot and placed under No3 Fernando Verdasco when the lights on the court went out due to electric shock. During the next two hours the organizers did not manage to restore the power. Ultimately, the semi-final has continued and Lopez has domineered with 7: 6 (5), 7: 6 (1).
